Milkweed Interbeing
2026, milkweed, flax, cotton rag, seaweed, grapevine, daylily, coreopsis, lupine, forsythia, New England aster, purple coneflower, creeping thyme, beeswax, twine. 5 x 4 x 4 feet. Osamequin Farm, Seekonk, MA.
Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is many things, all at once—beautiful papermaking fiber, meadow species, monarch caterpillar protector, liminal plant that grows in disturbed areas, and with a scientific name evoking Asclepius, Greek god of healing.
This sculpture continues to transform through the seasons, moving through growth, decay, weather, weeding, and weaving of forsythia branches.
