Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is many things, all at once—beautiful papermaking fiber, meadow species, monarch caterpillar protector, liminal plant that grows in disturbed areas, and with a scientific name evoking Asclepius, Greek god of healing.

Paper made from milkweed and flax fibers are attached to forsythia—and so the paper moves when the branches grow.

This sculpture continues to transform: through seasons, growth, decay, weather, weeding, germination, new paper additions, and continued weaving of living branches.
