sustainable fine art that celebrates nature

Crafted at my Rhode Island studio, these original and unique handmade paper pulp paintings and expansive installations bring the voice of living waterways and plants into your space.

Ebb and Flow

When it rains, I think of watersheds. How the water runs and seeps from hilltops to creeks to rivers to bays, then uniting with other waters in the oceans. Both ecological and spiritual, Ebb and Flow is a series of wall installations echoing specific watersheds, and uses plants found in those local landscapes as papermaking fiber.

The Ebb and Flow series has only a small number currently available. If you are interested in commissioning a new work in this series, please email May for pricing and an outline of the commission process.

River Reverence

I find that quiet rivers are places of solace. While grieving, I spent time amongst the lilies, rushes, and rippling water—meditating on the play of color and light on the layers of water surface and deep down.

In the studio, I transformed foraged river plants, using innovative papermaking techniques to fuse watery pulp into textured paper pulp paintings. These fluid, abstract works act as witness to rivers in New England, and evoke the slow processes of healing.

Living Fossils

I was fascinated by the millions of years-old fossilized fish in the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Boston, MA. Sketching these incredible ancient objects, I felt the mysteries of species emerging and disappearing over the epochs. What is lost. What is in the waters now, and what will be in the future.

In a search for connection to creatures from millions of years of ago, I used Gingko biloba tree fibers in these paintings. This tree is “living fossil,” one of the oldest living tree species in the world.

Blackstone River Suite

Falling waters along the Blackstone River are at dam sites. Visiting each, I made expressive, abstracted pulp paintings in response, and used sediment and plants fibers from so-called “invasive” plant species for the natural colored paper pulps.

Uniquely circular in shape, and evocative of the movement of water and contemplation of human-altered waterways.
